Christmas Classicathon | hosted by lucythereader

During this year I started to read more classic, especially during the summer. But I still didn't read a lot of classics and therefore I am not that confident with reading them. However during November I started watching the videos of lucythereader. I also watched her videos about her classicathon in August and I immediately thought that this classicathon would be a very good readathon for me to read more classics. However Lucy recently uploaded a announcement for her next classicathon which will take place in December.

This time lucy also has a few challenges for the classicathon:

1. Read at least one classic.

I don't have a specific book for this challenge because all books I will mention are fit in this one.

2. Read a classic which is related to christmas.

For this challenge I decided to read on of the most famous christmas classics: A Christmas Carol by Charles Dickens. During the summer I read Oliver Twist by Charles Dickens and I really liked it! My edition of A Christmas Carol also includes The Chimes and The Cricket on the earth by Charles Dickens as well. My edition is also in english and I hope that I'm still able to read it because English is not my native language.

3. Read a children's classic.

For this challenge I decided to read Peter Pan by James M. Barrie. I watched a few different adaptations of Peter Pan and I also read a book-adaptation (Lost Boy by Christina Henry - very recommendable). However, I never read the original. I am very excited to read this classic and I think I will really like it! This book is also an English edition.

4. Read a classic that has been translated into your native language.

For this challenge I decided to read 'Zeit der Unschuld' by Edith Wharton. This is the German edition of 'The Age of Innocence'. Our English Literature teacher just told us that we will start with 'The Age of Innocence' in January so I like to read through the German edition first before I read the English edition.

5. This classicathon has just four different challenges but I have one other book that I would like to read during December: '1984' by George Orwell. I got this book from my brother last Christmas and I still haven't read it. The book is currently in my room in Germany so I will read it at the end of the month when I will be with my family over Christmas.

These are my plans for the Christmas classicathon. If you don't know Lucy you should definitely check out her channel (lucythereader).

Have a nice day!
